Novel power semiconductors, converters, fast clocking inverters and EMC simulations

To have exact knowledge for research and application, we perform different characterizations of the static and dynamic performances especially of power semiconductors. read more We design, build up and test converters for new power semiconductors (SiC) and with novel circuits. Furthermore we work on the development, simulation and optimization of the thermal performance and of the EMC of the power semiconductors as well as of high efficient and fast clocking inverters for special applications in the industrial and the renewable sector.

Research

  • Our research is focused on the design of high efficient and reliable PWM-based power converter architectures (single-cell, multi-cell, multilevel), their modelling and control to exploit commercial as well as new power semiconductor devices with minimum over design.
    We develop controllers for electric drives and we are particularly skilled in the integration of renewable energy systems into the electric grid.
