Tamás Kerekes obtained the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University. The topic of the Ph.D. program was: "Analysis and modeling of transformerless PV inverter systems". He is currently employed as an Associate professor and is doing research at the same institute within the field of grid connected renewable applications. Tamas Kerekes is an IEEE member and is Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics. His research interests include grid connected applications focusing on DC-DC, DC-AC single- and three-phase converter topologies; solid state transformers, parallel connection of converters, current control, MPPT, PLL techniques in the area of photovoltaic and wind applications.


  • Our research is focused on the design of high efficient and reliable PWM-based power converter architectures (single-cell, multi-cell, multilevel), their modelling and control to exploit commercial as well as new power semiconductor devices with minimum over design.
    We develop controllers for electric drives and we are particularly skilled in the integration of renewable energy systems into the electric grid.
