Chair of Power Electronics

Excursion power electronics

Lecturer:

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marco Liserre/Prof. Dr.-Ing. Fuchs and staff

Target group:

Students of electrical engineering from the 5. Semester (optional)

Precondition:

Lecture "Power Electronics I, Introduction to electrical energy technology"

Information:

Ex. 1, 1 SWS, each winter term

Subject:

An educational visit of a relevant industrial or research company is done. The participants get acquainted in reality with methods and components of power electronics and electrical drives, to which they have aquired knowledge and skills in the lectures and exercises.
Visited companies so far:

  • Danfoss, Graatsten, Dänemark (Converter production)
  • Hauni, Hamburg (Production of cigarette machines)
  • Danfoss Silicon Power, Nortorf (Production of power semiconductor modules)
  • Lenze, Hameln (production of converters)

Research

  • Our research is focused on the design of high efficient and reliable PWM-based power converter architectures (single-cell, multi-cell, multilevel), their modelling and control to exploit commercial as well as new power semiconductor devices with minimum over design.
We develop controllers for electric drives and we are particularly skilled in the integration of renewable energy systems into the electric grid.
