Power Electronics II


Knowledge and skills in power electronics are deepened and enlarged. Further power electronic circuits and their behaviour are presented. Moreover, methods and components, for example snubbers, that are necessary to run the basic circuits, are treated. The themes are:
  • Load commutated converters
  • Converters with soft commutation
  • Further variants of converters
  • Control methods and equipment for power electronics
  • Divers, snubbers, protection, cooling
  • Passive components in power electronics
  • Electromagnetic interference in power electronics
  • Design of converters

  • Our research is focused on the design of high efficient and reliable PWM-based power converter architectures (single-cell, multi-cell, multilevel), their modelling and control to exploit commercial as well as new power semiconductor devices with minimum over design.
    We develop controllers for electric drives and we are particularly skilled in the integration of renewable energy systems into the electric grid.
